We will make two thorough passes over your manuscript to scrub it of repetitive wording and phrases, typographical errors, grammar and tense errors, missing punctuation, improper word usage and structural issues.

This is not a developmental-type edit and assumes that the manuscript submitted is thoroughly self-edited and beta read prior to submission.

Proofreading

Our proofreading service includes one final pass over your manuscript, which has been previously self-edited, beta read, and professionally edited by someone else. We will be your final set of eyes to make sure nothing has been missed before your manuscript is published. We will look for missed grammatical and typographical errors, missing words and punctuation only.

We will not proofread manuscripts that we have edited as that defeats the purpose of a final proofread, but we can recommend other professionals to assist you.

Developmental Editing

Developmental editing involves stripping your manuscript down to scenes and story arcs to identify plot holes, loose threads and dead ends. It’s better to know that you’ve fallen off the track before you finish the story and have to rewrite the entire book. We will work with you as you write your story to help improve your plot, story flow and reader impact to make your story the best it can be.

As a warning, we will be brutally honest, so pack your feelings away if you choose to hire us to help. But at the end of the day, it’s your book, you are the boss and make all the final decisions. We are just a sounding board to help you with those choices.

Fact Checking and Research

Are you writing about a topic with which you are unfamiliar? It’s almost certain that someone who will read your manuscript will be an expert on the subject, be it horses, rodeo, cattle, government, military, spies, weapons, counterintelligence, or just a foreign country. Write Right Edits: Who We Are

A voracious reader from the time I learned to read, books have always been a huge part of my life. My mother encouraged my love of reading and spent a small fortune each month, when it came time to order from the scholastic book club. I graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1986 with a BA in print journalism.

As a Jill of many trades, I’ve worked as an administrative assistant, sales representative and most recently an IT professional, and my employers have leaned on my grammatical skills in each position. Write Right Edits was born in early 2015, after many conversations with my favorite author, for whom I’d assisted as a beta reader.

With well over one-hundred books completed at this point, including USA and NYT bestsellers, I can’t think of many things I enjoy more than helping beginning authors sharpen their craft, or watching my seasoned author customers fly up the sales rankings.
